Aim of the Conference
The GiKS 2025 conference aspires to be a leading catalyst for environmental innovation, knowledge exchange, and sustainable transformation in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. By convening distinguished scientists, policymakers, industry pioneers, and youth leaders from across the globe, GiKS aims to foster a collaborative environment where diverse expertise and innovative thinking converge to tackle some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.
This annual gathering seeks not only to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable practices, but also to highlight the tangible economic, societal, and ecological benefits of investing in research, technology, and nature-based solutions. Through the exploration of strategic themes—ranging from achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the GCC, to the stewardship of fragile semi-arid ecosystems, the ecosystem-based management of marine resources, and the adoption of smart technologies in environmental monitoring— the conference aims to translate scientific insight into actionable policies and scalable projects.
Beyond academic exchange, GiKS endeavors to inspire youth engagement, nurture international partnerships, and accelerate technology-driven environmental solutions that can be adapted to the Kingdom’s unique ecological and socio-economic landscape. Ultimately, the conference seeks to chart a visionary yet practical roadmap towards a greener, more resilient, and prosperous Saudi Arabia—positioning the Kingdom as a regional and global leader in environmental stewardship and sustainable development.

ARCEMS brought science to life with an impressive showcase of its groundbreaking work. Visitors explored vibrant booths from diverse research groups, toured fully equipped research vessels, and discovered cutting-edge field and laboratory tools. Outside the conference venue, large vessels and specialized equipment turned heads, sparking curiosity and excitement among students, young researchers, and delegates from leading institutions and companies. Friendly ARCEMS scientists stood ready at each display, sharing fascinating insights, explaining how the equipment works, and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
